The range savoury snacks called chaat is served all over India and is very popular. The variety of dishes is very large and the taste is usually a tangy, spicy, sweet and sour. Usually it is found at road-side stalls or sweet and snack shops. There are different preparations of chaat and the ingredients used are boiled potatoes, puris or thin wheat bread, yogurt, spices, chutneys, chickpeas and and crisp fried ingredients.

A variety of chutneys - red (spicy, made of red pepper), brown (sour tamerind) and green (coriander and mint or pudina leaves). Finely chopped onion is served raw with the dishes.
