These are sketches and illustrations of the deity Lord Ganesha, a very widely worshipped diety amongst Hindus. He is known for being the remover of obstacles, the God of Plenty or the God of Success. Ganesha is the of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, and is represented by an elephantine head and a human body. Ganesha's head symbolizes the Atman or the soul, which is the ultimate supreme reality of human existence, and his human body signifies Maya or the earthly existence of human beings.
